The Lockwood Marine Redfish Rally/ Peach State Reds hosted a kids fishing day at a Jekyll Island pond this morning, my son, daughter, and I attended. There were approx. 25-30 kids of all ages that participated. The kids had a blast!! The majority of the catch were croaker and spot. Although a few kids mustered up some nice reds, trout, and one flounder.
Many thanks go out to Doug Haymans (CRD/ DNR, CCA) for MC of this event and to the many volunteers that helped the kids and cooked lunch for them. Little events like this can lead to huge dividends for sportsmen and resources in the future!

Just noticed the post. Glad you and the kids had a great time!
Definitely need more events like this for kids. Agree 100%, teaching future stewards the appreciation for our great resources will payoff in years to come. |
