When I woke up for church Sunday I didn't think that I would wet a line, let alone have one of the coolest moments of my bass fishing life happen. After church and brunch, a couple buddies and I decided to brave the wind and certain rain for what promised to be a miserable few hours on the lake. After spending an hour or so getting blown around and sprinkled on with not so much as a bite, we decided to throw some lures in one last spot before we headed in. My buddy smacked a nice one off the bat with a crankbait. Not being a complete idiot, I quickly switched to a Red Eye Shad rattle trap to hopefully mimic his success. after a couple quick fish, I hooked into what I knew instantly was a monster. There was no running side to side, and she didn't come to the surface. Just a steady pull in the opposite direction. After a couple minutes fighting her, I brought her to the surface and to my surprise she wasn't anywhere near as big as I thought. Just as my buddy started to reach for the net, the second fish rolled out from under the first and I realized I had just caught 2 nice fish on the same lure! I have never had this happen before, and still don't know exactly how. Both girls were hooked in the mouth from the inside, and look as if they were moving in opposite directions when the lure may have passed between them. I'm still pumped, and will remember that moment for a very long time.
